GRANDPA PANCAKES!!

Ok, I am sure you are all thinking "What the heck are Grandpa pancakes??!!" Well, let me give you a bit of a back story ... my Grandpa was from Oklahoma and was the sweetest most kind man you'd ever meet. He was also VERY simple and loved making breakfast for us as kids. This was one of our favorites, there really is no reason to call them Grandpa pancakes other than the fact that he always made them for us :) He passed away from Colon Cancer about 15 years ago and I LOVE making these pancakes for Bucket and it helps me to remember Grandpa. So, now that I'm a boobing mess ... let's get to the recipe. It is SOOOO cheap and takes 5 minutes, the kids will LOVE them and you may even as well!!

Start with these ... sounds weird I know, but stay with me ... The pack of 4 is less than $2.00 at Wal-Mart and I think each tube makes 10.

I use my griddle, at 300 degrees, so I can make all 10 at once ... BUT, I have also used a plain old frying pan, medium heat, when I only want to make a few. And any unused biscuits can be put in a ziploc bag and used within the next few days. Smash each biscuit flat in between your hands before you put them on the griddle.

Spray the back of a spatula with Pam ...

Using the spatula, flatten each "pancake". The pam will help keep them from sticking to the spatula.

Cook on each side for 1-2 minutes until Golden brown. They may try to puff up a bit, just keep flattening them down.

Now you are all done!! Top them off the same way you would normal pancakes and ENJOY!! I've never made these for a kid that didn't LOVE them ... so try it out on your little ones, and let me know what they think. And make sure to try them too, you may be surprised!!

Show Us What You're Workin' With Wednesday #5

Welcome to another Show Us What You're Workin' With Wednesday!! Thanks for stopping by ... I'm sad to say that I don't have a project to show you tonight :( I started something but Bucket decided to be SUPER needy and since the hubs was at work I wasn't able to finish. I was going to post a quick and easy recipe, but can't find the pics!!! SHEESH, I can't win for losing!!! But I promise to get a finished project and a recipe up tomorrow, along with my favorites from last week.

Oh yeah, in case you didn't know ... tomorrow is Bucket's birthday!!! YAY!!!! A year ago tonight I was at home unable to sleep because I was going to be induced the next day. I was nervous and I had NO idea what to expect, aside from the horror stories ... YIKES!!! All I could think about was meeting the little guy and how much I already loved him and that we couldn't wait to kiss him and love him :)

Ok, enough of the mush ... let's get to the party. I'm trying out inlinkz.com rather than mcklinky ... let me know what you think!! I've also decided to have a few rules, here they are:

  1. Link to the specific post and not your main blog page
  2. Submissions must be something that you made (recipe, craft, home decor, vignette, redo, etc) ... this leaves the door open for lots of fun ideas!!
  3. Post my button somewhere on your blog, in the actual post would be nice. I know that most of you link up to lots of parties so even a link back would work if using all the different buttons takes up too much space :)
  4. If you're link is deleted, don't fret, re-read the rules and re-link!!

Buckets Superman Party

Well, Bucket turns 1 tomorrow ... CRAZY!!! But, we had his birthday party on Saturday. The hubs is a MAJOR Superman fan so we decided to have a Superman theme. It was nice because we have TONS of Superman paraphernalia ... I'm not kidding :) I asked each party guest to wear a Superman shirt or hat or whatever else they could find or already had. Bucket already has 2 superman shirts, but I wanted to make him one.

This is the front of the shirt. It was my first time making an applique and it was super easy!! I actually used my Cricut to cut out all the pieces, it made it SOOO easy!! The Superman cartridge is awesome and I'm so glad that I bought it.

This is the back of the shirt, the cartridge also come with a fun Superhero comicbook font so I cut these letters out for the back of the shirt. I used heat-n-bond lite for all the pieces and then stitched them on. Stitching them on was kinda tedious because of the turns but as long as I went slowly it wasn't too bad. I used Fray-Check on the edges to help them from fraying during washing.

I wasn't going to do a party favor since that most of the guests were family but last minute I decided to whip something up. I printed "Thanks for making my party SUPER fun!" I slapped a Superman sticker on then wrapped them around a Hershey bar. They took 5 minutes and I really like how they turned out!!

Ok, these Cupcakes turned out FABULOUS!!! I got the recipe here and they turned out better than I imagined!! They even taste great!! She also has a cupcake frosting recipe, here, I tried it but I wasn't totally happy with the results. At first it tasted like butter, so I added more vanilla and then it just tasted like fresh whipped cream. And it was rather melty, so I just went to the grocery store and bought 2 lbs of Buttercream from the bakery :) I think from now on I will just buy it from them. It's only $3.99/lb and it saves me from having to make it. Anyway, I bought some green rock candy suckers and crushed them on and sprinkled them on the top and called them Kryptonite chunks. The little Superman symbol picks were also made with the Cricut then I just glued them onto some party picks and stuck 'em in.

I also made a little 6 in round cake for Bucket to dig into. This is how I displayed the cupcakes and the favors!!

Here he is eating his cake ... it took him a minute to realize that he could eat it all, he was picking off the Kryptonite chunks individually. I kinda had to stick his hand into the cake and then he was off. He even used a fork and did quite well.

Now that the party is over and we are moved in I have to come up with a project for tomorrow's party ... oh boy, I have NO idea what I'm going to do. I'm off to craft, see you soon!!

As always, THANK-YOU THANK-YOU THANK-YOU for joining me for my party. I LOVE seeing everything you post and I have the hardest time choosing just 3. I have a feeling that as this party grows I'm not going to be able to limit myself to just 3!!!

Show Us What You're Workin' With Wednesday #4

Oh My Goodness! I can't believe it is time for my 4th party! I'm so excited to have Shannon from One Crafty Mommy hosting today's party, I can just hardly stand it!! Thank you Shannon, you are a lifesaver!! So without further ado, here she is....Your hostess with the mostess, SHANNON!!!

Hey Me and My Bucket Readers!!! I am so excited to be here to host the 4th Show Us What You're Workin' With Wednesday! Jessica is such a talented lady and based on the previous weeks, so are her amazing followers! How Jessica only picks 3 crafts to feature is beyond me since they are all wonderful! So I wanted to share a little about me before I show you my latest craft!

Like Jessica said I am Shannon from One Crafty Mommy. I'm a 24 year old SAHM to an adorable 2 1/2 year old princess. I was lucky enough to marry a Marine who is wonderful and amazing and everything I could ever ask for in a husband. I started crafting, scrapping, and party planning during my husbands deployements to keep myself busy. Even though he is now out of the military I still love to do crafts and decorations for our future home! I get my kicks from crafty ideas, second-hand store, & clearance sales. I love finding creative ideas from fellow moms/homemakers. I love those who are willing to share their talents & inspiration with others, so I love to share creative ideas as well. Whether I get them from magazines, other moms, or off the top of my head. I love coming up with new, cute, crafty, & most importantly in-expensive ideas to brighten your home. From decorations, to scrapbooks, to things for our kids, One Crafty Mommy is the place for you. So sit back, relax, and let's get crafty!

Today I want to show you a different version of my rag-tie snuggle blanket that I have made in the past. This is for a friend's baby shower so I did not want to do the traditional pictures on one side. I went to the store and purchased all of my supplies:

-Print Fleece
-Plain Fleece
-Stciky Back Felt
-Embroidery Floss
-Additional Fabric

I first started out by printing out the letters onto cardstock to make a template. Once cut I traced them backwards onto the paper side of the sticky felt. Cut out letters.

I then arranged onto plain fleece and stuck them on. Now this is "cheating" but it does make it so much easier to work with the letters having them stuck on. (If you do not like the look of the felt you can always cute out fabric letters and iron them on with wonder under.)

Once the letters are in place you can either sew them with the machine, or use embroidery floss by hand. I opted for the floss because I love the look of it. However, because the fabric and the felt are so thick, it took me about 2 1/2 hours for each letter and many bruises on my fingers. (I had to try it once, I will probably never do it again.)

After that was completed I made the fabric flowers following this easy tutorial. (The only change I made was using felt centers for the flowers instead of buttons since that is a chocking hazard.) I then sewed the flowers onto the blanket.

I then assembled the blanket following this tutorial from the blankets I have made before.

I think it turned out so cute and I can't wait to give it to the mom-to-be this Saturday!

Thank you again for letting me host the party this week and I hope that you can come visit me at One Crafty Mommy! Now time to party!

I need a favor

As you know we have been moving and we are almost done!! Now to unpack :( UNFORTUNATELY, We won't have internet at the new place until Wednesday, TOTALLY LAME!!! How did we ever survive those pre-world wide web days??? LOL

Ok, here is where the favor comes in ... I am WONDERING if any of you darlings would be interested in Guest Blogging and hosting my "Show Us What You're Workin' With Wednesday" party???

I'm new to guest blogging/hosting, but I think its fairly simple, as far as granting you access to the blog. And I think I would just give you my info for Mr. McKlinky?? IDK, I'm sure I can figure it out. So, if you are interested PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send me an email at: meandmybucket {at} gmail {dot} com. I won't have REAL access but I can use my phone to send and receive emails and check the blog, so we can work out the details. And if I really need to get to a computer I guess I could always just go to a cafe or something. But I figure this way is more fun because I can have my first guest host AND not have to worry about not only getting the party up but trying to figure out a project to use. Does that make me sound lazy? The only problem is that I'm sure my craft room will be one of the last things done ... totally sad.

So, if you are down for this, it will be TOTALLY fun!! And don't think you aren't creative enough or have a project worthy of showing BECAUSE I've seen your blogs, and you TOTALLY are better than you think!!! THANKS LADIES!!

My Fav's from last weeks party!!

HOLY MOLY GRILLS!!!! Once again, I had an extremely difficult time choosing just 3, but after about 30 minutes of looking at-relooking at your posts, I FINALLY did it!!
Here they are ...

Yolanda, over at Monkey See - Monkey Do made these SUPER CUTE clothespins to hang her kids art. I know that deco-podged clothespins aren't a new thing, but I really like the flowers and buttons on the ends, I especially love the paper she used. Go check her out, she has a lot of great stuff!!

Awesome shirt make over over at Bird Crafts. Birds blog is CUTE!!!! She lives in France, LUCKY, and is so creative, you will love it!!

I TOTALLY love silhouettes, they are so FABULOUS and you've seen me try my hand at some here. Well, Sara at Creative Jewish Mom, made these little darlings!! So cute and so easy!!

Thanks to all of you ladies that linked up for my party, I can't wait to see what you show us this week!!!

Show Us What You're Workin' With Wednesday #3!!

I can't believe Wednesday is here already!!! I am still moving ... BLAR!!! But, I am taking a few minutes out of the all the FUN to get this party started!! I will feature my 3 FAV'S tomorrow ... so let's get down to business.

There is a FABULOUS scrapbook/paper store here in Salt Lake called Heartland Paper. I was in one of the stores last week and saw these super cute paper pinwheels and I knew I had to make them for this week's party. Luckily for me, they are a totally awesome company and have the pinwheel patterns on their site, they also did a segment on them on a local TV show called Studio 5. Click here for the pattern. Oh ... you will see that the sample picture on the site is the same paper that I used for mine ... TOTAL COINCIDENCE!! Too funny!!

First you have to print the patterns and cut them out. There are 3 different sizes, so you just need one of each. You'll want to print them on a cardstock so they are extra sturdy.

The pattern will tell you what size to cut your patterned paper, you will need 2 squares of the same paper for each pinwheel. *** MAKE SURE TO USE DOUBLE SIDED PAPER *** I put the pattern on top of both pieces of paper and used a straight pin to hold all 3 together. You could trace the pattern onto each paper individually and cut them out if you like, but this is TONS faster. You will see that the pattern wont go all the way to the edges of the paper (like in the pic) its ok ... just pretend it is the same size and cut it, or you can cut the pattern paper down to match the pattern exactly. This is the hardest part, and it isn't even hard, it's just time consuming!!

now that you have your two pinwheel pieces, glue them together. I used hot glue and just put a dab of it in the center of one and glued the other to it *** GLUE THE TOP ONE ON A DIAGONAL, SO ITS LIKE A DIAMOND *** Now pull out all the skinny round ends so they look like the picture.

Now it's time to start making it look like a pinwheel!! Take each skinny end and glue it down to the center, make sure you don't crease the paper, you want it to stay loopy like a real pinwheel.

This is what it looks like once you've got them all glued down.

Now it's time to make the centers pretty. I used coordinating paper and cut them into circles and then glued buttons and/or rhinestones on it. The website has instructions for making these functioning pinwheels.
*** IF ANY OF YOU MAKE THEM SPIN-ABLE I WANT TO SEE!! ***

SUPER CUTE and SUPER EASY!!! I hung these from the chandelier above the kitchen table, but they would look super cute in a window or on the door or the mantle.

Now for the party ... I had 28 links last week and I can't believe it!!!

*** THE LINK I ORIGINALLY POSTED FOR THE PINWHEEL PATTERN IS WRONG, SORRY, I'M LAME!! CLICK HERE FOR THE CORRECT LINK, THANKS!! ***

I usually... speak my mind

I search... the D.I at least twice a week ;)

I miss.... working. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE LOVE LOVE being a mommy, but sometimes I find myself missing the 9 to 5.

I always... lock the car doors as soon as I get in the car.

I regret.... not going to college

I wonder.... what/who Bucket will grow up to be

I crave.... lemons with salt. SOOO bad for my teeth, but I love 'em!! My mouth is watering right now!!

I remember... August 8, 2009, The day we became an eternal family

I need..... to lose some weight

I forget.... to let the dog back in the house after he goes potty

I feel.... like my eyes are on fire ... SUPER TIRED!!

I can.... do anything I set my mind to, thanks dad!!

I can't.... snap with my right hand or whistle or curl my tongue

I am happy.... when I'm with my family

I lose..... EVERYTHING, seriously

I sing.... whenever one of my jams is on :)

I listen... to all types of music, EXCEPT that crazy heavy metal screaming stuff ... that's NOT music!!

I shop..... anywhere and everywhere

I eat.... anything, not picky at all

I love.... sushi, Bucket and Phil

that was sooo much fun, I can't wait to do it next week to see how different my answers are!!
