My life for the next few days ...

Bucket has pneumonia, total bummer!! He started wheezing yesterday late morning but it wasn't bad so we just kept an eye on him. Then we went to dinner last night and by the time we got home he was MISERABLE. He had RSV in January, so we still had the nebulizer and the medication so we gave him a breathing treatment hoping it would help him out. We also were praying for it to at least work until tomorrow, I say that because Phil leaves on Active Duty orders tomorrow. And, the insurance doesn't kick in until then, BUMMER!! Anyway, the breathing treatments weren't really helping and he wasn't sleeping, eating, peeing or pooping and he was SUPER irritable. Nothing we did would pacify him. Around 4:30 in the morning I had the strong feeling that we needed to take him to the ER. So, we did ... and of course they told us he had pneumonia and needed to be admitted. UNFORTUNATELY, the hospital we went to is small and doesn't have the Peds facility that he would need. So, we would have to be transferred, we had two choices: Primary Children's Hospital or Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. We of course wanted Primary Children's , they are one of the best out there and Phil is partial because he had cancer and was treated there and received EXCELLENT care. Not that UVRMC is bad or anything :) The only downer was that in order to go to Primarys it required a PRICEY helicopter ride and UVRMC was much closer and only needed an ambulance. We didn't care about the money, we wanted Bucket to receive the best care possible. Unfortunately the Dr. had other plans in mind. He said he was worried about Bucket being able to stay "stable" during the helicopter flight, so UVRMC it was. We have been here since about 8:00 am and he's doing good. We have no idea how long we will be here, I'm estimating until at least Monday morning. He has to be able to keep his Oxygen levels about 90 on his own, and right now we are at around 70-80 ... poor guy. So, if you are the praying type, we wouldn't mind shooting a few our way :)

  3. Awe, poor little fella! That's pitiful! I'm so sorry :( I know the feeling though, unfortunately. When my son was 2, he had his first asthma attack and was admitted and it was miserable for everyone. So definitely praying for you guys!
